Prairie Sky, 18x36 original oil

In this painting, I sought to depict the vastness of the western landscape. I love the colors in the sky. This painting is sold, but I can paint another version for you.

(SOLD)

Copper Canyon, 05008, geologic abstract

Four strips of copper run across this painting. They are scored with random vertical lines and antiqued using copper sulfate solution. The strips are held in place with glue, imbedded in the flexible modeling paste surrounding them, and tacked on the back into the stretcher bars.

I used several layers of underpainting to give depth to the final metallic finish. There are subtle details that the camera cannot capture.

SOLD

Golden Mantle, 04808, abstract acrylic triptych

This triptych is on 3 gallery wrapped canvases of varying widths of 8 inches, 18 inches and 24 inches. Each canvas is 24 inches in height and 1.5 inches in depth. Final demensions of the piece, not counting spacing between the canvases are 24 inches tall and 50 inches wide.
The heavy texture was achieved using flexible modeling paste and rug backing for the pattern. The metallic elements are metal leaf in gold and copper.

I think this is a really exciting piece and would complement any neutral decor.

Stone Weave 1&2, abstract diptych

OK, I finished the companion piece for Stone Weave. The two of them together make a bold statement on the wall, especially since they're 2.5 inches deep. I've shown a few different configurations here, but they can be displayed any way that suits the buyer.

They look good as a pair, but one will stand on it's own very well, so I will sell them individually.

Ensemble, 03808, revised, 24x24 original oil

Sometimes I have to live with a painting for a while before I know what's wrong with it. Today's painting is a case in point. I originally posted this on May 4th of this year (you can scroll down and see the original version). I never got around to varnishing is because I knew, deep down, it might need revisings.
All I added was another flower in the middle, toned down the edges on the purple verticle stripes, and added some drips. The composition is stronger in this version and I'm ready to varnish it now.

Stone Weave, 04608, acrylic abstract

Readers of this blog know that I'm a big fan of texture. This painting is one of a pair painted on 8x8x2.5 inch deep Signature canvas. My goal was to make this look like stone. The upper portion of the painting was textured by putting loosely woven burlap on the canvas, applying the flexible modeling paste with a palette knife, then carefully lifting the burlap off.

What appears as gold in the photo is actually metallic gold paint so there is a sheen to it. I love working with modeling paste to create interesting textures.

Blanco, 04508, white stallion horse

In his prime, this stallion personifies beauty, power, and confidence. This original painting is on 6x6 gallery wrap canvas (1.5 inch deep) with the sides painted black. It arrives ready to hang with no framing necessary.
